Title says it all really. Being a new service just wondered if they count towards it yet.

Last I heard, they don't yet. Maybe that's why the X-Factor winner's not on here.

If you want DRM free, non-itunes go to HMV.co.uk. They definitely count toward the UK singles chart...and it's 320kb mp3 for 69p.

Interesting to know. I signed up there years ago but at the time it was 128 Kbps WMA so I didn't use the service.

I refuse to buy any music at a 128Kbps bitrate regardless of the format and how much better than mp3 they claim it to be, which is why I won't use iTunes unless it's iTunes Plus.

iTunes definitely counts, Napster might, eMusic doesn't.

Is this still the case or do they count towards the charts now?

Yes amazon definatley counts i have been in touch with th charts company and anything in the Amazon top 10 no matter what price counts

The Official Singles Chart Rules do not specify a minimum retail selling price for the sale of a single to be eligible for inclusion in the Official Singles Chart, however they do specify a minimum published dealer price. This does not affect the ability of a retailer to carry out price promotions and any genuine consumer purchases made as a result of a retailer promotion will be eligible as long as the single meets all other applicable chart rules.

In plain English - RAGTM & Joe Downloads from Amazon.uk DO count.

Just to back up what's been said about the 29p downloads counting towards the chart. They DO count, I e-mailed the official chart company to ask and they confirmed that 29p downloads off Amazon count towards the chart. The minimum price of 40p is the DEALER price what Amazon pay, if they decide to sell cheaper as a special offer then it's up to them but it doesn't effect the downloads being counted towards the chart.

Once again, 29p downloads DO count towards the chart :)

I hope Joe gets to number 1 because, quite frankly, it's far more deserving than what a bunch of spanners think is a clever "protest". I mean seriously, a group of people telling other people to buy a song that has "F you, I won't do what you tell me" in the lyrics... If it had been a proper Christmas song or another song that's been released THIS WEEK then I'd probably be on board but no it had to be something even more irrelevant than X Factor.

We can confirm that sales of MP3s from Amazon.co.uk, including "The Climb" by Joe McElderry and "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against The Machine, count towards the Official UK Charts.

How is he more derserving? Because he was over hyped on a reality tv show and is selling someone elses song?
